Eluru: Four members of a family are missing. They belonged to Kanuru village in Peravali mandal in West Godavari district. The police recovered a letter written by the family members in which they stated that they were going to commit suicide.

The locals suspect that they might have committed suicide by jumping from a bridge at Sidhantham village in Penugonda mandal in the early hours on Monday.

According to information received at the district headquarters here, Bobbili Siva Nagaraju (37) and his wife Varalakshmi (28) along with their daughters Amrita (9) and Chandrika (8) went to Sidhantham Bridge in the early hours of Monday. The couple along with their children came out of their house in Kanuru village in Peravali mandal late on Sunday night, according to relatives.

The relatives and police found a suicide note written by Vara Lakshmi stating that all the family members have decided to commit suicide as they were cheated and pressurised by some money lenders. The police found a motorbike and slippers on the Sidhantham Bridge.

The police registered a missing case as there was no clue on suicide. After registering the missing case, police with the help of local people and fire personnel started searching the River Vasistha from Sidhantham to Narsapuram. The police were clueless until Monday night about the family.
Siva Nagaraju was a vendor and used to supply food items to shops. In the suicide note, Varalakshmi said that they were facing financial problems. “We have no option except to commit suicide. However, I and my husband Siva Nagaraju went to a factory for work to get out of the debts.

We requested the money lenders not to pressurise us as we are ready to pay the loan amounts by working in the factory. Even then the money lenders continued harassment. I faced the torture for the sake of our children Chandrika and Amritha,” she said. Police have filed a missing case in Penugonda police station.
