Visakhapatnam: The CPM is planning to launch agitation on November 2 against the government over the Simhachalam lands issue. It may be recalled that the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana delivered a verdict considering 45 petitions as one case on July 24, 2017 directing the government to conduct a re-survey of all the disputed lands spread in five villages.

The court also said that the directive of Visakhapatnam RDO giving all the rights on the said lands to Simhachalam Devasthanam on April 3, 2010 was not correct. However, the state government has given permission to the devasthanam to challenge the High Court verdict in the higher court.

Disclosing the High Court verdict at a press conference here on Tuesday, Secretary of Greater Visakhaka City Committee of CPM B Gangarao urged the government not to challenge the High Court judgment and find an amicable solution favouring the thousands of people who are residing in those lands.

The TDP in its election manifesto (2014 general elections) promised that it would clear the issue within 100 days after coming to power but in vain, Gangarao lamented. Already, seven years were wasted due to the government. Now again the government permitting devasthanam to challenge the High Court verdict cheating the people of the villages, he pointed out.
