Hyderabad: In a warning to Andhra Pradesh issued on Tuesday, the Met department bulletin forecast thunderstorm with heavy rain and lightning at isolated places in Prakasam and Nellore districts of south coastal AP and Chittoor district of Rayalaseema on November 1.

The bulletin said there would be heavy rain at isolated places in Prakasam and Nellore districts on November 2, 3 and 4 and also in Chittoor district.The heavy rain is attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation over the south-west Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Sri Lanka which now lies over Lanka the adjoining Gulf of Mannar, extends up to 4.5 km above the mean sea level (MSL).

According to the bulletin issued on Tuesday, thunderstorm, associatedwith heavy rain and lightning, occurred in Prakasam, Nellore and Chittoor districts. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded in the State were: Sullurpet (Nellore), Satyavedu (Chittoor dist) 6 each, Tada (Nellore) 5, Shar (Nellore) 4, Nellore, Gudur (Nellore), Puttur (Chittoor) 3 each, Rapur (Nellore), Kodur (Kadapa), Thottambedu (Chittoor) 2, Tirumala, Srikalahasti (Chittoor) 2 each, and Venkatagiri, Chittoor, Nagari, Chinnamandem, Pakala and Tirupati Airport one cm each.

The bulletin said there was an appreciable fall ranging from 2to 4 degrees Celsius in the night temperatures at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and no large change across Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday. The temperatures were appreciably below normal by 3to 5 degrees C at one or two places in the coastal districts and normal over Rayalaseema. The lowest minimum temperature of 19 degrees Celsius was recorded in Arogyavaram.
