Sardar Patel responsible for nation’s unity: Collector
District Collector S Sathya Narayana gave a call to take an inspiration from former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his 142nd birth anniversary.
Kurnool: District Collector S Sathya Narayana gave a call to take an inspiration from former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his 142nd birth anniversary. He also remembered selfless services of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary. Earlier, he flagged off Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and Sankalp Diwas run along with Rajya Sabha member TG Venkatesh, Kurnool MLA SV Mohan Reddy and Municipal Commissioner Harinath Reddy.
The run began from Railway Station road and concluded at outdoor stadium. Addressing the gathering, the Collector said that Sardar Patel responsible for unification of India by integrating more than 500 princely states. Patel actively participated in freedom struggle after coming back to India from England, he said and added that he worked as Deputy Prime Minister in Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet and handled the portfolio of the Home Ministry.
The Collector stated that Indira Gandhi took a bold decision to nationalise 14 banks. Rajya Sabha MP TG Venkatesh said all political leaders as well as activists and the youth should follow the footsteps of Sardar Patel. SV Mohan Reddy, C B Harinath Reddy and others garlanded the portraits of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Indira Gandhi.
