World reputed multinational technology company Microsoft has selected eight girl students from GITAM University for its ‘Women in Software Engineering (WISE)’ programme.

Visakhapatnam: World reputed multinational technology company Microsoft has selected eight girl students from GITAM University for its ‘Women in Software Engineering (WISE)’ programme. The selected students Ch Charishma, Samridhya Lahiri, Anjali Sowgandhika, Tejaswini Panda, Radhika Patnaik, Tarigoppula Sai Sahithi, Sappa Sneha and P Sireesha are studying in the third year of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at GITAM University.

The WISE programme comprises a mentoring group of volunteers from Microsoft who intends to create an experiential learning for female students to sharpen their professional skills. The idea originated from a group of women engineers working at the Microsoft India who wanted to help women engineering students shape out successful careers in technology.

It allows participants to enhance their knowledge in the area of their technological interest. It equips select women graduates with the latest industry tools, modern programming practices and helps them to secure positions at top software companies in the country.

The selected students would be given training in soft skills and boost their self-confidence, dealing with societal pressures success mantras, life skills, busting the usual myths using the growth mindset to embrace new opportunities, said GITAM CSE department head PV Nageswara Rao.

He expressed that selecting for Microsoft WISE program was not a simple thing and the selected students would get great opportunities in their career.While appreciating the students, GITAM Institute of Technology, Principal K Lakshmi Prasad mentioned that they would continue their association with Microsoft to ensure that more bright girls get jobs through WISE.
