Vijayawada: The revenue department on Thursday began survey on the hill areas of the city for regularisation of house site pattas and houses. Urban tahsildar R Sivarao and a team of revenue staff began the survey in the city.

Thousands of people living on the hill areas at Gunadala, Machavaram, Chitti Nagar, Moghalrajpuram, Gandhi Hill, Gollapalem Gattu, Vidyadharapuram, Mallikarjuna peta, Ali Nagar and other areas have been asking the government for a long time for regularisation of their house sites.

During the recent surprise visit of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in the city, residents asked for the regularisation of house site pattas on the hill areas of the city. Urban tahsildar Siva Rao said the government will provide an opportunity for the transfer of the ownership of house site pattas as per the Prohibition of Transfer Act.

He asked the owners of the houses to keep ready the house tax, electricity bill, Aadhaar card, ration card, original document, agreement copy in case of purchase etc. He appealed the people not to handover documents or copies to mediators. He said VROs would come and collect the details in seven hill areas of the city. He urged the people to cooperate with the revenue officials.
