Vijayawada: City Congress President Akula Srinivas demanded that the state government render justice to the Fathima Medical College students and take steps to save their academic year.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here on Thursday, he lashed out at Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not having any commitment in solving the problems of the students. He questioned as to what the government was doing, while the college was admitting the students without obtaining permission from the Medical Council of India.

He demanded the resignation of Minister for Medical and Health Kamineni Srinivas. Congress party official spokesman Kolanukonda Sivaji warned that if the government did not take any action to solve problems of the Fathima Medical College, they would intensify their agitation.

Prof. Janaki, mother of a student, urged the Chief Minister take the initiative in solving the problems of the students immediately and added that due to a delay in resolving the issue, the students were facing mental torture.
