Rajamahendravaram: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) spokesperson Ambati Rambabu warned the state government that the party would intensify the agitation if the government fails to arrest and suspend Ramachandrapuram sub-inspector Nagaraj immediately. The police department is trying to protect the sub-inspector and sending him to VR (vacancy reserve) is not a punishment but an attempt to divert the issue, he added.

Speaking to reporters at the party office here on Thursday, Rambabu questioned as to why the SI was not arrested though a case under Section 307 was registered against him in connection with the arrest and manhandling of YSRCP state youth wing president Jakkampudi Raja recently.

He said police had registered a false case against Jakkampudi Raja under Section 353 in a vindictive manner and added that SI’s behaviour was condemned by leaders of TDP, BJP, Congress and Left parties. Rambabu further said there was no need to obtain permission to the proposed padayatra of YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
