Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said they would shortly start foundation course in all residential junior colleges. He held a review meeting at camp office on Friday with Principals of Residential junior colleges in the district and said the government would take a decision within fortnight on introducing the course.

He held a review meeting at camp office on Friday with Principals of Residential junior colleges in the district and said the government would take a decision within fortnight on introducing the course.
The Minister said their main aim is to provide good foundation to the students of Social Welfare and Tribal Welfare hostels in the district. There are 10 Social Welfare, 2 Tribal Welfare and one government Residential junior colleges in the district.
He said the students would be taught by the experienced teachers from Narayana Institutions. He asked the principals to be proactive for shaping the future of the students as it takes around 3 years for achieving good results in all government-run Residential junior colleges. The Chief Minister has been planning to make the State as an education hub, he said.
Later, the Minister visited various wards in city and inspected ongoing works of underground drainage and water pipes. He visited Balajinagar, Aditya Nagar, NTR Nagar and other areas and interacted with local people on their issues. He said Rs. 1,100 cr are being spent in city for UGD and drinking water purposes.
He has stated the ongoing works are expected to be completed by June/July 2018 and they had proposed the works on permanent basis keeping the needs of the city for next 30 years. He appealed to the people to bear with temporary inconveniences. He admitted the works are being delayed due to rains and stagnated water. He also said they would take up widening of roads in all divisions.
The Minister paid surprise visit to municipal primary schools in Balaji Nagar and interacted with the children. He also handed over pensions to the eligible persons during a programme organised by the district administration.
He instructed the officials to take necessary measures to mitigate any possible loss during heavy rainfall as the Met Department warned that the district would receive heavy rains from 4th to 7. He also asked the district administration to be alert during the time.
District Collector R Mutyala Raju, Joint Collector -2 Venkata Subba Reddy, NUDA Chairman K S Reddy, former legislator MSK Reddy, Nellore Municipal Commissioner S Dilli Rao, ITDA Project Officer Kamala Kumari, Deputy Director of SW department Madhusudan Rao, GGH Development Committee chairman Ch Narasimha Rao and others were present.
