Vijayawada: YSRCP general secretary Talasila Raghuram on Friday said the state police should take the responsibility of providing security to Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy during his statewide Praja Sankalpa Yatra begins on November 6 in YSR Kadapa district.

Addressing media at the party state office, Raghuram said Jaganmohan Reddy has been given Z category security so it is the responsibility of state police to provide protection to him. He said the Praja Sankalpa Yatra would begin at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district on November 6 and later proceed to Kurnool district.

He said Jagan is conducting padayatra to directly get feedback on people’s problems. Asked about the police permission for the yatra, he said previously Telugu Desam leaders have conducted many yatras and never took permission for that. He said the local YSRCP leaders would ask their respective police officials in the district to give security to Jaganmohan Reddy.

He said a representation was already given to State DGP to provide security to the Opposition leader. Raghuram alleged that the TDP government totally failed to fulfill the poll promises and reminded that many students are committing suicides and farmers are in distress.

As a responsible Opposition leader Jagan is launching padayatra to highlight public problems, he said and alleged the TDP government is creating hurdles to prevent padayatra at any cost.
