Amaravati: Another MLA of YSR Congress Party joined the ruling Telugu Desam Party on Saturday even as the Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy is undertaking padayatra from Monday to mobilise public against the ruling party in the next general elections.

V Rajeswari, MLA from Rampachodavaram in East Godavari district, joined the TDP in the presence of party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here. Rajeswari is the 22ndlegislator from the YSRCP to defect to TDP.

The TDP is considering the joining of Rajeswarias a major blow to the YSRCP just before the beginning of Jagan’spadayatra on Monday. “Jaganmohan Reddy has taken a decision to boycott the Assembly session demanding action against the defected MLAs and to expose the inaction of Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao on those MLAs. But, his plan seems to be boomeranged,” said a senior TDP leader.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajeswari said, “I am joining the TDP after observing massive development in the state. I want to develop my constituency under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu,” she said. Earlier, Rajeswari differed with the decision of YSRCP president to boycott the Assembly session.
