Drive to sensitise schools on needs of special kids
Arunodaya Special School, Ukkunagaram, organised a mega event ‘Khel Mela’ on Saturday in association with ‘Friends of Arunodaya’ at the Ukku Stadium involving children of regular schools with an objective to sensitise them about the needs of children with disability. D
Visakhapatnam: Arunodaya Special School, Ukkunagaram, organised a mega event ‘Khel Mela’ on Saturday in association with ‘Friends of Arunodaya’ at the Ukku Stadium involving children of regular schools with an objective to sensitise them about the needs of children with disability. D
irector (Projects) RINL PC Mohapatra inaugurated Khel Mela Speaking on the occasion, Mohapatra said that the event involved at bringing children of regular schools in the township to play with special children of Arunodaya. This would give them a chance to understand the special needs of special children, he added.
The dream of Khel Mela has taken wings only because of support from VSP Collective. The team of ‘Friends of Arunodaya composed Khel Mela anthem, designed the posters and certificates, formed the games and its rules with nine schools, nine retro games, over 500 children, participated in the event. Games have been planned in such a way that in some games special children will be a part of the regular school team and for some games special children will compete with other children.
RINL Directors P Raychaudhury, PK Rath, Bindoo Mohapatra, President of Visteel Mahila Samiti Bindoo Mohapatra, vice- presidents Ratna Ray Choudhury and Sarada Rath. Secretary of Arunodaya Special School Sudesh Das and Joint Secretary Vani Deshikachar and other members of VMS participated.
