Srikakulam: Formation of separate irrigation circle office for Srikakulam under control of superintending engineer has been remaining on papers for the past two-and-a-half years.

At present, all five divisions of irrigation department are under control of superintending engineer Bobbili of Vizianagaram district which is leading to trouble in regular administration.

To avoid lapses, the MLAs of the district had prepared a proposal for a separate circle office for Srikakulam and submitted it to the government through Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu and the then TDP state president and present Minister for Energy K Kala Venkat Rao. Subsequently, the government also gave its nod for new circle office by sanctioning Rs 1.86 crore funds through the GO No.106 in November 2016. Even after one year not even a single step was taken by the officials concerned towards formation of circle office.

Ministers from the district, Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao, K Atchannaidu directed the chief engineer of irrigation projects in north coastal Andhra, M Trimurthy Raju for speedy completion of process to form irrigation circle for Srikakulam. “We will initiate exercise to form circle office soon,” the chief engineer told The Hans India.
