Call money harassment: Man dies of heart attack
Alleged pressure from money lenders claimed a man’s life at Subbayamma Peta in Yeleswaram Nagar panchayat on Saturday. According to sources, Velagala Ramesh Reddy took nearly Rs 8 lakhs loan from a local money lender Babi Reddy at Yeleswaram some years ago.
Kakinada: Alleged pressure from money lenders claimed a man’s life at Subbayamma Peta in Yeleswaram Nagar panchayat on Saturday. According to sources, Velagala Ramesh Reddy took nearly Rs 8 lakhs loan from a local money lender Babi Reddy at Yeleswaram some years ago.
The money lender allegedly harassed Ramesh Reddy demanding higher rate of interest. After paying the interest regularly for some period, Ramesh Reddy was unable to pay the remaining amount and the money lender Babi Reddy forced him to mortgage his house for the loan amount as security. On Saturday, Babi Reddy dumped garbage and other material in Ramesh Reddy’s house.
Irked by the act of the money lender, Ramesh Reddy approached the Yeleswaram police. But the police didn’t register any case against Babi Reddy. Upset by this, Ramesh Reddy fainted and died on Saturday. The relatives of Ramesh Reddy protested against the police and the money lender and staged a rasta roko. Prathipadu Circle Inspector rushed to the spot and persuaded them.
