Ongole DSP B Srinivasa Rao said any commercial place, which has a footfall of a 100 visitors daily are being served notice under Sec 3(1) of the Andhra Pradesh Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act 2013. Those shops, schools, hotels, hostels and businesses are required to setup a CCTV system

in their premises with the entry, exit and parking places must cover within 15 days, he added. He advised the owners to opt for quality equipment with high resolution in their budget to identify the faces on the screen and having a capacity of 30 days recorded data storage. He asked the owners not to share the administrative details of footage with anyone even with their staff, except the police during investigation.

The DSP said SP Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu has instructed all concerned police officials in the district to see the act implemented in their jurisdiction without fail. Though there is fine and seize for not cohering to the act by the businessmen, the DSP assured no action will be taken against them for few months. He said, “We are asking them in good faith and it is their responsibility. But a small investment on the CCTV system will help them a lot in future.”
