Vijayawada: CPI state secretary and Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi leader K Ramakrishna on Monday released posters relating to Chalo Assembly programme to be held on November 16 demanding that the Centre should keep up all the assurances mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act including separate railway zone for AP and setting up of steel plant at Kadapa district.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here, Ramakrishna said the Centre assured funds for 44 projects in the AP Reorganistion Act, out of which, it has so far sanctioned funds only to 22 projects. He flayed the Centre for its failure to release sufficient funds for the mega Polavaram Project. It is also yet to keep its promise on setting up a steel plant in Kadapa, he pointed out.

The CPI leader alleged that the Centre was releasing more funds for BJP-ruled States and neglecting AP. Despite the Central government not releasing funds for the State, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is not exerting any pressure on the Centre.

He said if they conduct Chalo Assembly programme, the matter will come up for discussion in the State Assembly. He said if the Centre provides Special Category Status to AP, entrepreneurs will come forward to set up industries.
