Vijayawada: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel on Wednesday raided the residence of Medepalli Vijayaraju, assistant commissioner of endowments department, and unearthed the documents related to properties worth crores of rupees disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The ACB officials carried out searches in the residences of Vijayaraju in Bhimadole in West Godavari, Vijayawada and Hyderabad and seized documents related to flats, plots, vehicles and other assets. ACB director general R P Thakur, in a release , said the assistant commissioner had amassed properties worth crores of rupees disproportionate to his income and was arrested and produced in court.

The accused is residing in Pavan Classic apartment in Nidamanuru on the outskirts of Vijayawada. R P Thakur said the Vijayaraju is the native of Bhimdole in West Godavari and worked in Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Nalgonda and Krishna districts since 1990.

He is working as superintendent/ assistant commissioner, office of the Commissioner of lands, Endowments department Vijayawada. According to DG Thakur the accused purchased two flats in Pragati Nagar, Gaddi Annaram, Saroor Nagar of Rangareddy district, Telangana in 2002. Besides, he purchased 10 house sites in different places.

The ACB officials found three 200 square yard plots and another plot of 212 square yards in Bhimadole. They also unearthed documents related to a pent house, one independent houses, 2.57 acre agriculture land, Rs 2 lakh cash, bank balance of Rs.5 lakh, household articles of Rs 16 lakh and gold articles worth Rs 5 lakh. They seized three vehicles, a Maruti Swift, an Innova and a Bolero. Besides, four two-wheelers were also seized during the raids.
