Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy has promised farmers that the water will be supplied to standing crops in the district through various channels after integrating them with Mucchumarri lift irrigation. He gave the assurance while addressing the Zilla Parishad general body meeting here on Wednesday.
The Minister stated a proposal was forwarded to the state government over the crop loss due to floods and drought. Krishnamurthy said the government had sanctioned input subsidy for the year 2015-16 but the amount was not remitted due to delay in linking of the bank accounts with Aadhaar numbers. He expressed satisfaction over Kurnool securing sixth place in the state for making the district open-defecation free.
To secure top spot, still 1.42 lakh individual latrines must be constructed, and the responsibility solely lies on the shoulders of MPTCs, ZPTCs and other local representatives, he informed and said that the target should be completed by next March 31. About road widening in Kurnool city, the Minister said a resolution has been passed with the consent of the members to acquire 15 feet land on both sides of roads.
