AP Assembly winter session to commence today without Opposition party

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly Winter Session is all set to begin today. The 10-day Assembly session will proceed sans the Opposition party, YSR Congress who have boycotted the session as a protest against the Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao for not taking action against their MLAs, who had defected to the TDP.

With no Opposition in the Assembly, the ruling TDP government will take up the role of the Opposition and has decided to discuss at least 10 issues every day and raise 200 questions in 10 days.
Security has been tightened in around the Assembly premises with 1,000 police officials deployed in this regard while 400 police personnel stationed at check-posts on six roads leading to Assembly.
