Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy alleged that the State government had no clarity in completing the irrigation projects. He alleged that the TDP government was focusing on escalating project costs only to loot public money. Raghuveera Reddy inspected Gandikota, Sarvaraya and Vavikonda projects in Kadapa district.

Speaking on the occasion, he flayed the State government for not completing construction of a single project during the last four years. Farmers in Rayalaseema were incurring huge losses due to non-completion of the projects. He recalled that about 44 irrigation projects were taken up during the Congress regime with an objective to provide irrigation facility to one crore acres in the State.

He pointed out that most of the irrigation projects in the State were completed by the Congress government and it had spent huge amounts to protect farmers’ interests. But the TDP which gained power in 2014 elections totally neglected the irrigation projects causing hardship to the ryots.

Referring to the decision by YSRCP to abstain from the Assembly session, he said it was nothing but showing disrespect to the Constitution. He opined that as a responsible Opposition party, the YSRCP should have taken part in the House proceedings as it is the best platform to highlight people’s problems.

The PCC president also opined that the Assembly Speaker should act in an impartial manner as a representative of the Constitution towards the issues raised by the Opposition parties. PCC vice-president N Tulasi Reddy and others were present.
