Ongole: Lok Satta founder president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan said that the technology and transparency can help in elimination of corruption.

Interacting with degree and engineering students in Singarayakonda and Kandukur as part of concluding his three-day Surajya Yatra here on Saturday, he emphasised the need for Service Guarantee Act to make it compulsory for officials to deliver services in a specified time and the responsibility of government to provide equal opportunities for education and health services to everyone.

He said the country needs holistic education, which encourages the students to question and find the solutions to existing problems.

Stressing the importance of infrastructure in the country, Narayan said though the government is spending Rs 11,000 crore everyday, it failed to provide the facilities in the required area.

Pointing out that the country stood 55th out of 57 countries in the survey of infrastructure and 73rd out of 74 countries in the survey of education standards, he said though the government was spending Rs 60,000 per year on each student in schools, the standards are very poor.

Jayaprakash announced that the youth has the stamina to curb corruption and put the country beside the advanced countries. As part of Surajya Yatra, Narayan said that he is trying to encourage leadership qualities among youth and knowledge about the issues dragging the country behind. He asked the youth not to depress over the problems and resort to extreme steps. He announced that great victories can be achieved with little changes in method of approach. Speaking on elimination of corruption, he mentionedabout the railway ticketing system and telephone connections and explained how corruption in railway and telephone services is reduced by 99percent.
