Govt schools to impart karate training to girls

Vijayawada: The state government decided to impart training to the girl students studying Class VIII and IX in the government high schools, including municipal, Zilla Parishad,MPP, Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare Schools in the state. The Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan issued orders to this effect.

The Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan directed to start karate training to the girl students immediately. Initially, they will start on a pilot basis in some schools. Later, they will extend to all the schools. The government took this decision in the wake of rise in atrocities against women and eve teasing cases.

The Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan directed the headmasters of the government schools, start karate training classes to the interested girl students and later motivate the other girls to learn Karate. They will also explain how karate is useful for self-defence and how they can protect themselves in case of need.

The corporate schools, private schools are also imparting training in dance and karate to the girl students. Similarly, following instructions of the government, the RMSA now issued orders to all the government schools in this regard. From next year, they will impart karate training in all the schools and conduct karate classes weekly twice or thrice.

It may be recalled that the police department has already released Abhiyan app to protect women in danger and set up I-Click Kiosks to lodge complaints without going to police station to lodge complaints in the state. As soon as complaint is lodged, it will be forwarded to the concerned police station for taking further action.
Meanwhile, A.P.State Commission for Protection of Child Rights is also creating awareness on child rights and creating awareness how to check sexual harassment in the schools.
