District Collector Lakshmi Kanth has sought the help of Coast Guard. Speaking regarding the incident, he said that there is no permission for River boating and cases are being filed under culpable homicide not amounting to murder and gross negligence.

The Collector informed that five persons have been booked, 21 got rescued and 17 people were killed in the mishap.

All the five accused are partners in the River Boating and Adventures company, idendified as SM Kondala Rao, N Sesha Giri Rao, Gedela Srinu, V Vijaya Saradhi and Chitti. Currently, one of the accused has been detained by the police and is being interrogated while the others have absconded.

Primary investigation reveals that the mishap occurred due to 45 people being onboard at a time on the boat which is more than it's capacity against the rules.
