Mild tremors in Podalakur

Nellore: Mild tremors created panic among residents of Podalakur mandal headquarter here in Nellore district on Sunday morning. People ran out of homes after experiencing tremors that lasted for 3 to 4 seconds at around 8.10 am on Sunday.

According to sources, no casualties were reported, mild tremors occurred in this village after four years. ‘We ran out of the houses along with children after hearing a huge sound from the earth and we experienced the earthquake for some time. This is the second incident in four years,’ said Imtiaz, a resident of Podalakur.

Normally, mild tremors occurred in upland areas in the district some time ago in Vinjamur and other mandals. NGRI Scientists who visited Chakalikonda village in the district earlier started their investigations and collected details from the villagers. The present incident in Podalakur shocked local people as it is located close to reservoirs such as Somasila and Kandaleru.
