Amaravati: Marketing Minister C Adinaryana Reddy said the government would ensure remunerative price for chillies and other crops to farmers. Replying to a question by TDP MLA D Narendra in the State Assembly on Monday, he said the government would construct 21 new cold storage units in the market yards.

He said cold storage units would come up in mandal headquarters even for storing vegetables. The Centre has allotted Rs 250 crore for cold storage purposes, he said and asked the members to submit their proposals as per the requirement.

The construction of new cold storage units would begin from next April, he said. He also admitted that the fluctuations in prices would be sorted out with the construction of new cold storage units.

CPS is under examination: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the government is examining the demands of members towards abolition of Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

Answering questions raised by members in the State Assembly, he said debate was held across the country over the pension scheme. The Centre has given the liberty to the States whether to implement the scheme or avoid it.

He also said that pension would be given under this scheme in two parts but some of them feel no pension comes if the scheme is implemented. However, majority of members in the State Assembly unanimously demanded that the government should implement pension for all the employees and aired their views against the implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme.
