Amaravati: Excise Minister K S Jawahar said on Monday that the government is determined to close all the belt shops in the State. He said that the government has shifted more than 600 liquor shops across the State, based on the complaints lodged by public this year.

Addressing a press conference at the Assembly on Monday, the Minister said that if anybody found a belt shop they can lodge a complaint by dialing 1100.

On receiving the call, the officials concerned will close the shop within half-an-hour. Reacting on smuggling of ganja, the Minister warned that the government would take serious action against those involved in cultivation of ganja, transporting and selling it.

He explained that the government officials had removed and burnt ganja plants worth Rs 19 lakh spread over 11 mandals in different districts of the State.
