Nellore: CPI leader K Narayana alleged that the state government had failed to take safety measures at the boating points. He along with his relatives attended the last rites of his sister Lalitha Devi, her daughter-in-law Haritha and granddaughter Aswitha at Kurugondla village of Ozili mandal on Tuesday. The dead body of the deceased reached the village on Monday late night.

Lalitha Devi’s son Prabhu Kiran performed last rites for his mother, wife and for his daughter. CPI state general secretary Ramakrishna expressed his condolences to the kin of the deceased. ‘Though the government had witnessed such lapses during Godavari Pushkaralu but it failed to take safety measures during the religious occasions.

Why the state government is attracting tourists if such incidents are occurring repeatedly?’ asked CPI leader Narayana. The government has been paying ex-gratia instead of taking security measures at the tourism spots, he criticised. He also demanded the government to take stringent action against the persons, who were responsible for the mishap.

Further, District Collector R Mutyala Raju along with Naidupeta RDO Seena Naik paid tributes to the deceased. He appealed to the parents across the district to take care about their children preventing them venturing into tanks and canals for swimming without safety gear.
