Visakhapatnam: Nearly 80 passengers, including Minister for Energy Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao and seven MLAs from Andhra Pradesh heaved a sigh of relief after Air India flight landed safely on its second attempt at the Visakhapatnam International Airport on Wednesday evening. This incident comes within a few days of an Indigo flight hitting a stray wild boar on the runway.

Air India mini aircraft, which took off from Vijayawada airport at 5 pm, was scheduled to land at 6 pm at Visakhapatnam. However, due to adverse weather conditions on account of depression over the Bay of Bengal, the aircraft had difficulty in landing. With all his experience, the pilot tried for a controlled landing. When the landing gear touched the runway, the flight trembled for some time forcing the passengers on board to jostle one another, it is learnt. With this the pilot changed his decision and took off again.

The pilot pacified the passengers not to worry. After half-an-hour flying in the air, the pilot successfully landed the craft much to the delight of the passengers, according to sources. “All of us started to pray for safe landing. Pilot assured us that he would land the craft safely. He did it in the second attempt,” a passenger and Visakhapatnam West MLA PVGR Naidu, who appointed as Government Whip in the AP Legislative Assembly, told The Hans India.
