Singapore government established Amaravati Partnership Office (APO) in Singapore exclusively to promote Amaravati and coordinate with investors, technologies, and developers.  

Amaravati: Singapore government established Amaravati Partnership Office (APO) in Singapore exclusively to promote Amaravati and coordinate with investors, technologies, and developers.

The State government said the APO had been set up to coordinate the development of startup area in Amaravati, enhancing capacities of different departments of AP and to promote bilateral trade and investments.

The APO also will help coordinate with Singapore institutes like Centre for Livable Cities for enhancing livability of Amaravati to world’s best standards.

Singapore Trade and Industry Minister Iswaran is coming to Amaravati on Friday to discuss the promotion of development activities as well as investment and trade initiatives of the State.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted a teleconference from Visakhapatnam on Thursday with Minister P Narayana, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar, Special Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Satish Chandra and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister G Sai Prasad.

“Amaravati received another feather in its cap. It’s a great gesture for development of Amaravati that the Singapore government established an office in Singapore exclusively to promote the trade and economic activity of Amaravati,” the Chief Minister said.

He said even people who studied in backward regions should get employment in Amaravati and that gives him satisfaction. He thanked Prime Minister for quick approval of MoUs entered between the Government of Singapore and Andhra Pradesh.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that the Economic Development team of APO was closely working with AP Economic Development Board and APCRDA.

The organisations would identify projects in the areas of urban solution and share knowledge and experience in infusing the world’s best standards livability parameters of Amaravati, they said.

Narayana said the recent first Joint implementation steering committee, co-chaired by Chief Minister and Singapore Minister Iswaran, discussed on setting up AP Design Research Institute and Urban Asset, Infrastructure Management System and Capital Region Investment Promotion Agency (CRIPA) for Amaravati. It also agreed to work quickly to set up an agency to do investment promotion for Amaravati, he said.

Energy Principal Secretary Ajay Jain said setting up of Amaravati Planning, Design and Research Institute was on anvil. The Chief Minister said the implementation of joint economic plan with Singapore government results in trade surplus for the State. The fruits of surplus would increase the credibility of Amaravati and the government further, he said.

Ajay Jain explained that efforts are being made to improve air connectivity between Vijayawada and Singapore. He pointed out that Singapore Airlines expressed its intention to start flights between the two cities.

The Chief Minister directed APCRDA to bring in the urban planning principles and livability standards of Singapore for the construction of Amaravati.

ADC chairperson Lakshmi Parthasaradhi, CRDA Commissioner Ch Sridhar and State Energy Conservation Mission Chief Executive Officer Chandrasekhar Reddy participated in the teleconference.
