Atmakur (Kurnool): Tahsildar Ramakrishna on Wednesday seized two proclainers used by land encroachers to clear bushes in the encroached lands, which are originally given to SC and ST beneficiaries of Siddeswaram. The Kothapalli police warned them that they would open rowdy-sheet against them if they violate the law.

According to the police, Yelakanti Obulesu and Gorantla Srinivasulu in the garb of farmers and with the help of the forged documents encroached 72 acres of land, given to 10 SC and ST farmers in 2008. Depriving the original farmers of their right, they created fake pattadar passbooks for 82 acres and distributed the land among some other farmers taking at least Rs 50,000 from each of them.

Further, with the help of the survey numbers of lands in Srisailam backwater region and forging Tahsildar’s signature they distributed land pattas among the farmers who bought lands from them. They deployed two heavy proclainers to clear jungles in the land.

They also attacked the revenue staff who tried to prevent them. Alerted by the affected farmers, Tahsildar Ramakrishna warned the middlemen. The proclainers were seized. The affected farmers appealed to the authorities to recover loans availed by the fake farmers on the strength of the fake pattadar passbooks.
