The CSR Sharma College ground in Ongole, which already hosted three Ranji matches, is all set for the fourth match scheduled from November 17 to 20. On that day, Andhra team is going to face Mumbai, which is the winner of Ranji trophy for 42 years, in the new and upgraded pitch.

Ongole, though being a neglected town by the State government, is the home for top cricketers and cricket lovers. The Prakaksam District Cricket Association developed the CSR Sharma college ground with the help and cooperation of Andhra Cricket Association earlier and the patronage continued every year.

The college management committee, PDCA officials upgraded the facilities and infrastructure at the college ground and provided best facilities to both teams, which includes players like Venugopal Rao, Abhishek Nair, Dhawal Kulkarni from the IPL and India Cricket teams along with the promising youngsters Sreyas Ayyar, Epitare, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravi Teja, RK Bhui and Ashwin Hebbar as members.

PDCA secretary Pratap Kumar explained, “We have installed a moving sight screen, digital score board, air conditioned pavilion for both teams, separate cabins for match referee, video analyst and scorers, ice bath tubs and good sporting pitch. The BCCI has appointed neutral curator Prasanth Rao from Karnataka for the pitch maintenance.

The ACA members already checked the pitch and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements at the ground. We thank the ACA office-bearers for every support they rendered for us.”On Wednesday, the Andhra and Mumbai teams reached Ongole and started to practice in the ground. The PDCA also laid a cable circling the ground with OFC and electricity supply for use by the live broadcasting team.
