Achanta: Kapu leader and former Minister Mudragada Padmanabham called upon members of the Kapu community to get ready to take part in an agitation from December 6, to exert pressure on the State government to implement reservations for Kapus.

Mudragada participated in the Kapu Vana Samaradhana programme at Penumanchili village in Achanta mandal in West Godavari district on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Mudragada requested Kapus to provide suggestions on how to intensify the struggle to ensure that Kapus are included in the list of BCs.

He pointed out that successive governments in the State assured reservations to Kapus. However, each government failed to implement the promise. He alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was only protecting his and his son’s political interests and completely ignoring the welfare of Kapus. He alleged that the Chief Minister was dragging the issue of reservations in the name of Commissions.

“We are fighting against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to ensure that he fulfills his promise but he has started implicating Kapus in illegal cases, bind over cases and the government was even opening rowdy-sheets against the Kapu activists,” he alleged. Areti Prakash presided over the meeting.
