While Tirumala was in the top list of a few Muslim terrorist organisations, four years ago, an exchange of fire was taken place between police and one Muslim terrorist group near Puttur town which is 50 km away from Tirumala.

Tirupati: Tirumal police moved towards preventive measures against the terrorist and anti-social activities at world renowned Hindu shrine of Lord Venkateswara. While Tirumala was in the top list of a few Muslim terrorist organisations, four years ago, an exchange of fire was taken place between police and one Muslim terrorist group near Puttur town which is 50 km away from Tirumala.

From that onwards, cops are acting with high alertness. Similarly, TTD security and local police have been receiving the Intelligence Bureau (IB) warnings on terrorist attacks periodically.

Already, TTD security officials have taken steps to fix the closed circuit cameras to watch the movement of people on the hill shrine. CVSO Ake Ravi Krishna recently visited Delhi to study the high-end security management systems.

Police officials of the shrine are taking certain new security measures since a month. They have been conducting series of meetings on security tightening at Tirumala. As part of this, police had started one-to-one verification among TTD out sourcing employees, who have been working in the shrine under agencies like FMS and Sulabh and other private contractors.

Police instructed to FMS company (facilities management service) to submit the employees’ personal details record to police for security. FMS is maintaining more than 3000 TTD rest houses, guest houses and cottages at Tirumala as part of housekeeping contract.

Similarly, police have organised a meeting with hoteliers and shop owners and asked them to submit details of workers and employees. Police also sought details since how many days they are working at Tirumala, to which place they belong, contact mobile number with personal Aadhaar card.
In addition, police have asked all the Matham managers at Tirumala to provide the Mathams employees list and personal details. According to sources Tirumala police have already collected some Matham employees’ details. Tirumala ASP Murali Krishna is keen on tightening the security measures from police side and is regularly monitoring the steps taken by the police.

While Tirumala two town CI Venkat Ravi, speaking to The Hans India, said, “Our Police department is collecting details of all persons who are staying in Tirumala as part of job or work. Recently we had conducted counselling to rowdy sheeters and old offenders and continuing close watch on their activities at Tirumla.’
