Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Pradesh Psychologists Federation (APF) state president P Subba Rao demanded that the State government implement Chakrapani Committee recommendations submitted to the government, on how to reduce stress and strain on Intermediate students mainly in the corporate colleges.

Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, he said that the committee had recommended to start counseling centres with psychologists in junior colleges along with holidays on second Saturday and Sunday to give them some relief.

Moreover, the committee also recommended to allot some time for sports and games every day in the junior colleges and advised the government to make practicals compulsory. He has also asked to include teaching of languages such as Telugu, Hindi, English etc to the students. Many corporate colleges were not giving importance to language teaching and concentrating on science and mathematics.

The students were under pressure from their parents and also the college management, he said.Expressing concern over the suicides of Intermediate students, he said the APF is ready to help the students by giving them counselling. Psychologists DN Rao, Sita Ramakrishna, Esteru, Dr Sasidhar, Dr Chinta Syam, Krupadev and AR Rao were present.
