Release water for rabi from NS reservoir, Demands MLA Pinnelli
Farmers under the aegis of MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy staged a dharna on Guntur-Macherla High Way at Palvai Junction in Rentachintala Mandal of Guntur district, demanding that the government release water for rabi from the Nagarjunasagar reservoir immediately.

Addressing the gathering, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy said that due to non-release of water from the Nagarjunasagar reservoir, the farmers of the NS right canal Ayacut area of Guntur district were facing a lot of problems, and added that the farmers who cultivated chillis and pulses suffered heavy losses due to crop damage caused by adverse climatic conditions during the last season.
He demanded that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu take steps to release water for rabi at least this year. He recalled that due to lack of sufficient water in the NS reservoir, there was no water for rabi over the last three years.
He said that at present, sufficient water was available in the Nagarjunasagar reservoir. When the agitators staged a dharna on the highway, the vehicles on both sides of the highway were stranded, causing an inconvenience. Police swung into action and restored the traffic flow.
