One held for kidnap and rape of minor
The Chirala police arrested a man for kidnapping and raping a minor girl. They also arrested a woman for providing shelter to the man and helping him escape from the police. According to V Suryanarayana, Circle Inspector for 1 Town police station, Mogili Gopi, aged 22 years and resident of Chirala, convinced a 15-year-old girl, a far relative to him, that he loved her.
Chirala: The Chirala police arrested a man for kidnapping and raping a minor girl. They also arrested a woman for providing shelter to the man and helping him escape from the police. On November 11, Gopi picked up the girl from her house at Dandubata in Chirala on the pretext of marrying her and raped her in a friend’s house on the same night. On November 12, he took her to Tenali with the support of his aunt Garikapati Lakshmi alias Rattamma. Later, the girl escaped from them and reached Chirala.
Based on the complaint from the family members of the girl, the police sent the girl for medical examination and arrested Gopi and Rattamma in Chirala on Thursday. Suryanarayana said that a case is booked against Gopi for rape under IPC and POCSO acts and on Rattamma for aiding the accused in the crime.
