Visakhapatnam: As part of the second day of AP Agri Tech Summit–2017, four sessions on different topics of agriculture related issues and latest developments as well as pitch competitions for agri tech entrepreneurs took place at the venue.

On Thursday, as part of plenary discussion on ‘Global Agri Tech Solving Local Challenges’ chaired by Agriculture, Marketing and Co-operation Principal Secretary B Rajsekhar, the eminent panelists have put forward the possible solutions for local challenges by employing updated agri technologies. Panelists also identified key challenges faced by small and marginal farmers in the State. They discussed about the ways to ensure these technologies are adequately promoted in the future.

In another session, the panelists have discussed how big data can be harnessed for the benefit of small and marginal farmers. They attempted to highlight the advantages of leveraging data for different players in the farming sector including government, farmers and other intermediaries.

In a session on ‘Soil Information Systems,’ the speakers noted how several organisations have been using modern technologies to collect and use soil data.

As part of pitch competitions for Agri Tech start-ups, the entrepreneurs delivered talks on digital financial services and data mining for agriculture, tech-enabled rural advisory services and tech-enabled market linkages.

The interaction programme with progressive farmers was also held. Nearly 700 visitors including farmers, students and professors have attended the sessions of the summit and visited Agri Tech Expo. There were many farmers and students who did not get access to attend the event as the registrations got over.
