Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Association of Deaf, which met at Siddartha Auditorium in Vijayawada city on Friday, demanded that the government issue a GO to fill the backlog of vacancies of persons with disabilities and to give preference to aged and severely disabled in filling Class -IV posts and non DSC vacancies.

Addressing the meeting, the association president C Ramesh, urged the government to cancel the GO No 74 immediately. He requested the government to appoint over-aged disabled persons in the Class IV posts immediately and extend helping hand. He demanded that the government give reservations to the deaf in the outsourcing staff recruitment and contract staff recruitment. He said that APPSC, Universities, APSRTC, TTD, SPDCL and PWD department were not implementing reservations for the deaf.

He urged the government to conduct a special drive and fill the vacancies immediately. He requested the government to allot vacant posts for deaf equally in all the districts and a notification should be issued for the recruitment. He urged the government to regularise the services of the deaf working on contract basis or outsourcing immediately, and asked the government to provide free travel facility in trains and bus services.
