Visakhapatnam: As part of the outreach programme, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) members and judicial officials launched massive awareness campaign educating the people about legal rights and legal aid.

The DLSA has taken up ‘Intintiki Nyaya Sevalu’ (Legal service at door step) and visiting various colonies.As a part of the programme on Friday, the DLSA organised the outreach programme on ‘Women and Consumer Acts and Rights’.

Senior Civil Judge and Secretary of DLSA S Damodara Rao explained the Acts framed for the security of the women. The judge informed the gathering that according to the section 294, three years imprisonment would be imposed on those who criticise and abuses women.

Two years imprisonment would be imposed for teasing a woman, Damodara Rao said. He appealed the women not to not worry and come forward to get justice and the DLSA would provide free assistance in the courts.

At another programme, Judge and Chairman of Five Districts Power Consumers Forum D Dharma Rao informed that forum is ready to attend to the issues of the power consumers. Another judge T Eeswara Rao explained about the rights of the people.

“People are paying taxes for various services to the government and they have right to get quality services. The issues related to drinking water and sanitation would be cleared in 60 to 90 days,” the Judge said. President of Sri Gayatri Welfre and Culture Youth Academy R Ravi Kumar and others were present.
