Release water from NS: Ambati

Guntur: YSRCP official spokesman Ambati Rambabu demanded that the government release water for Rabi from the Nagarjunasagar reservoir immediately. The water from Nagarjunasagar right canal will help farmers of Palnadu area Guntu district to start rabi activity.

Addressing a press meet at Narasaraopet on Friday, he said that at present, sufficient water was available in the Nagarjunasagar reservoir. If the water was released, the farmers would cultivate rabi crop. He reminded that the government did not release water for the last three years for rabi in Palnadu area of Guntur district and added that due to lack of water, the farmers cultivated other crops instead of paddy. As a result, they got less income.

He further said that due to falling of prices, cotton farmers were going through losses this year. He demanded that the government release water for rabi from the Nagarjunasagar reservoir to extend a helping hand to the farmers of the Palnadu region.

He said that the YSRCP leaders would hold a meeting in Narasaraopet on November 20 to chalk-out future course of action to mount pressure on the government for the release of water. He questioned the government as to why they were not taking decision on water release.
