Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) and State Bank of India (SBI) share a vision of community empowerment and service for every citizen. Accordingly, the SBI has come forward to donate a bus to SVIMS as part of their corporate social responsibility.

At a function organised on the SVIMS campus, SBI Chief General Manager (Amaravati Circle) Mani Palvesan has handed over bus worth Rs 19 lakh to the SVIMS Director-cum-Vice-Chancellor Dr TS Ravi Kumar on Friday.

As part of community medicine curriculum, the SVIMS students are engaged in community outreach on a regular basis. Faculty, nurses, allied health personnel and other staff conduct general and speciality camps on a regular basis.

The bus will be useful for these purposes, said Dr Ravi Kumar. He appreciated the gesture of SBI by saying that it will help the rural poor of Rayalaseema region with the aim to provide the medical services from hub to hut. SBI General Manager Raghuram Setty, Deshpande, Kulakarni, Bhushan Rao and SBI SVIMS campus branch manager Srinivasulu were present.
