Chittoor: Expressing concern over the continuous road accidents in the district, District Collector PS Pradyumna instructed the managements of private schools to equip all their buses with GPS facility. He took a strong note of the fact that every day two to three accidents and every month 60 to 70 road mishaps were taking place in the district. It is the duty of everyone to take proper steps to control road accidents, he said.

The Collector convened a meeting on road safety and emergency response system with police, transport, education, managements of private and corporate schools and automobile dealers in Chittoor on Monday. It was pity that even after taking steps by convening meetings of Traffic Advisory Committee every month the accidents were going on, he lamented.

He warned that if any school bus is met with an accident then the action will be taken on that school management. While driving the vehicles, every driver should keep in mind that they are risking their own lives along with their family members and should be cautious, the Collector stated. Chittoor Additional SP Radhika said that the preventing road accidents is the social responsibility of everyone.

Many people lost their lives at speed breakers as there were no indicators there. She set a deadline of December 10 to install GPS equipment in every school vehicle. With this, if any driver drives at highspeed, concerned school management will get a message and an e-challan imposing penalty. She asked all automobile dealers to install GPS in every vehicle. DTC Pratap, and Crime DSP Ramakrishna also spoke on the occasion.
