Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said infrastructure in villages should be improved and it should reach saturation point. He said once the infrastructure improves, village and agriculture tourism would be increased.

Speaking in the Assembly on Monday, the Chief Minister said Panchayat Raj roads were laid on a length of 13,192 km and another 18,000 km roads would be completed.

He said cent per cent target would be achieved in laying rural roads in the coming two years and 30 lakh LED bulbs would be installed by November 2018.

The Chief Minister said all the Panchayat Raj buildings would be provided with video conference facility to provide an opportunity for ministers, MLAs and officials to interact with the officials and review the development works in rural areas.

Speaking on Housing programme, the Chief Minister said a target was set to complete 19 lakh houses before going to elections. Saplings should be planted on either side of the roads for a length of 19,500 km, he directed.

He said fodder security should be provided to cattle and the responsibility should be handed over to DWCRA groups to overcome the fodder crisis. Play grounds should be developed in all villages and green cover should be increased to 50 per cent in the State by taking up plantation programme in a big way, he instructed.

The Chief Minister said cattle dung should be collected from all houses in villages to prepare compost and the programme should be completed in all villages by December 2018. He also said the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation would help to make AP as Open Defecation Free State by March 2018.

The members should feel proud for serving as an MLA in the present term for achieving development in all sectors. The government cannot tolerate violations in the MGNREGS woks. It will try to enhance the average wage to the workers of MGNREGS from the present average level of Rs 141. The average wage was above Rs 200 in neighboring States such Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu,’ he pointed out.
