Addressing a gathering, the Chief Minister said he was delighted that the scheme was launched in the name of the Andhra Bank founder Pattabhi Seetaramaiah and pointed out that the new scheme would be very beneficial to women. Referring to SHGs of Andhra Pradesh, he said SHGs are repaying 98 per cent loans to the banks in the state and became a role model in the country for other states.

He further stated that 90 lakh women are in the self-help groups in the rural areas and 19.74 lakh women self-help group members are availing benefits in urban areas in the state. Chandrababu Naidu said that he wish to see women as millionaires and reiterated that the TDP government would extend assistance to the self-help groups for achieving economic development.

The Chief Minister handed over the cheque for Rs13.14 crore to 1,100 women members belonging to 184 self-help groups. He congratulated Andhra Bank for granting loan up to Rs 25 lakh for each group. Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Welfare Paritala Sunita, Andhra Bank Managing Director Suresh M Patil, Nabard Deputy Managing Director H R Dave and others spoke on the occasion. Several hundred women members of self-help Groups, bank officials and others attended the inauguration of scheme.
