Vizianagaram: Collector Vivek Yadav launched mass grounding of 53,000 toilets across the district on Tuesday. He took part in a programme at Konda Karakam village.
The government is planning to another program on November 29 to construct 50,000 more toilets in the district. The Collector has put a target to construct 2.27 lakh toilets by February 2018.
The Central government has recognised the measures taken up by the district in the construction of toilets and lauded the district administration.
Apart from this, 450 community toilets are also being constructed in various areas in the district for the convenience of public.
The district has created a record of sorts by constructing 10,000 toilets in 100 hours. The Collector said: "It’s our goal to create Swachh Vizianagaram by providing toilets in every home. We should make our district clean. People and staff should join hands to keep our district clean.”
