She was addressing a gathering at the Kala Utsav-2017 here on Wednesday. Johnny Moon expressed happiness for the participants who came from 13 districts of the state and wished them to bring laurels by winning prizes.

Kala Utsav-2017, a two-day state-level competitions for the secondary school students, which was aimed at bringing out the creative and cultural talents by the Central government’s Ministry of Human Resource Development.

District Collector Kona Sasidhar suggested that every child should develop best personal traits along with academic growth. The Kala Utsav was started in 2015 with the slogan ‘Ek Bharat-Sresht Bharat’ and advised the participants even in cultural events one should learn the supportiveness and not to feel unhappy when they lose in contests.

M Rajyalakshmi, Director, Andhra Pradesh State NCERT, said that there are four segments of competitions in Kala Utsav-music, dance, drama and visual arts-winners will be selected from division-level to district-level from there to state to national- level. Winners will be rewarded with cash prizes, she added.

MLC Ramakrishna, Chairman of Guntur Market Yard M Subba Rao, Director of State Madhyamika Siksha Abhiyan P Prabhakar Rao and others participated in the inaugural session. A large number of students performed various forms of dance and on Thursday most of the events are related to drama and visual arts, the organisers announced.
