National Junior Athletic Meet from tomorrow
Additional Joint Collector Dr A Siri informed that the district administration completed arrangements to host the National Inter-District Junior Athletic Meet (NIDJAM) to be held in the city from November 24 to 26 at the Visakhapatnam Port Stadium.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Dr Siri said that as many as 5,000 sports persons are coming from 400 districts across the country to participate in a three-day event.
The administration made elaborate arrangements, including transportation, lodging and boarding for the players. As many as eight places have been provided for girls with all the amenities and one officer deployed as in-charge at each location. The competitions will be held in 30 events for 14-years and 16-years categories.
Cash award would be presented to the first, second and third prize winners Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively, she added. On the occasion, Secretary of Athletics Federation of India (AFI) CK Valson said that the federation has been organising the event since 2003 and the Visakhapatnam has been hosting event for the past three years. District Sports Development Officer June Gallyot was also present.
