Puttaparthi (Anantapur): Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu described Sathya Sai Baba as an embodiment of love and as a universal teacher. He described the town as an internal spiritual headquarters from where the message of Baba had gone to every nook and corner of the world.

Participating in the 92nd birth anniversary of Sathya Sai Baba at Prashanthi Nilayam, he also unveiled an archives centre which contained the life, teachings and good deeds of Baba. He said that the archives have been established for the benefit of future generations who did not see the Baba nor heard his teachings. The archives would remain forposterity.

The Vice-President of India stated that even though Baba is not physically present, he could see Baba in the faces of his devotees. He said that the Baba proved that service to humanity is service to God by launching several schemes which benefited the common man. Health care, education and providing of drinking water to the poor in the Telugu states of Telangana, AP and Tamil Nadu.

He praised the Trustees particularly Ratnakar for working towards realisation of the values and objectives of the Baba, who had established the Central Trust. Venkaiah said that Baba stood for love, truth, peace and non-violence.

The Baba's Trust was instrumental in performing surgeries to 25 lakh heart patients. Stating that he retired from active politics, Naidu said that Indian culture was great, and that secularism was in the DNA of the Indian people. He said that real tributes can be paid to the Baba by only carrying forward his service activities.

Earlier, Venkaiah Naidu, who arrived by a special aircraft at Puttaparthi Airport at 3.45 pm on Wednesday, was received by Information Minister Kalva Srinivasulu and local MLA Palle Raghunatha Reddy and MP Nimmala Kistappa.

Besides, political leaders, the members of the Sathya Sai Central Trust including Ratnakar gave a rousing and affectionate reception to the Vice-President. He briefly interacted with the Minister and the MLA.

The evening session of the convocation commenced after an engaging speech by Venkaiah Naidu following the inauguration of archives centre. After attended the birth anniversary celebrations of the Baba, Venkaiah returned to Delhi at 5 pm by flight.
