Residents see trouble with new house numbers in electoral list
For the first time in the history of Atmakur constituency after its conversion from major village panchayat to municipality, the existing old house numbers are likely to be replaced with the new ones.
Kurnool: For the first time in the history of Atmakur constituency after its conversion from major village panchayat to municipality, the existing old house numbers are likely to be replaced with the new ones. The Atmakur municipality and the election booth level officials have taken up the task to allocate new door numbers after making rounds from door-to-door.
It may be good news to hear as several houses that don’t have numbers would get new numbers but is more likely to fetch unforeseen problems to the residents. Almost all the residents have got their Aadhaar cards, ration cards, bank accounts and other cards on the existing house numbers.
Even some of them had availed bank loans and crop loans on these numbers. To get fresh loans or for renewals, the residents need to submit documents with new door number allocated by the municipality.
Now, the entire process would change, and these changes need to be corrected from the Revenue Department or from Mee-Seva centres. Keeping their routine works aside, the residents now need to secure a place in the queue at these centres.
Allocation of new house numbers is to be carried out as part of Intensive Regional Electoral Roll (IRER) at Atmakur municipality under the constituency of Allagadda and Srisailam in the district.
Besides, the Atmakur municipality, Nandikotkur, Nandyal, Dhone, Kodumur, Yemmiganur and Adoni municipalities are also likely to get new house numbers. The Atmakur municipality is having a voter strength of 26,165 with 10,093 houses while Allagadda is having voter strength of 29,249, Nandikotkur with 25,995, Nandyal with 1,47,909, Dhone with 33,576, Kodumur with 13,740, Yemmiganur with 70,048 and Adoni municipality with 1,44,612 voters.
All the voters of the respective municipalities besides getting new house numbers are also to be issued with new voter cards. Atmakur Tahsildar Rajasekhar speaking to The Hans India said that the allocation of new house numbers was taken on the directions of State government and the Election Commission. He said it is nothing but to streamlining of voters list.
Around 34 election booths are there in Atmakur municipality and all these booths would get new house numbers, he stated. Furthermore, he said that one of the family members used to cast their votes at various wards even though they belong to one family.
With the allocation of new house numbers, the entire family members would be brought under one umbrella and now then can franchise their vote at one place. This process was done earlier in Kurnool municipality and now it is being carried out in Atmakur, he added.
