Lok Satta Party founder Jayaprakash Narayan on Monday visited Agriculture Market Yard here and interacted with the farmers. He said that he has started a two-day ‘Surajya Yatra’ to know about the problems of farmers.
Kurnool: Lok Satta Party founder Jayaprakash Narayan on Monday visited Agriculture Market Yard here and interacted with the farmers. He said that he has started a two-day ‘Surajya Yatra’ to know about the problems of farmers.
He asked them about the price being given to their produce by the market officials and the facilities provided to them. Some of the farmers told Jayaprakash Narayan that despite remunerative prices fixed to their produce by the government, they were being robbed by the commission agents and middlemen.
They are not even getting half of the support price, lamented the farmers. After interacting with farmers, he also spoke with the market yard officials and enquired about the prices of various produce brought to the market yard. He along with the market yard officials toured the entire market area.
He said that the farmers are incurring more losses due to the middlemen and commission agents than from nature. This system need to be streamlined by the government, he demanded.
